For the past few years, Catalyst Youth Trust has hosted winter retreats for youth and schools workers from across the region. One of the most frustrating things about coming home from a spiritual retreat like this is that our families haven’t been on the same journey. It’s for this reason that we’ve asked Ruth & Dave from Rising Brook Church to come and lead our children and young people.

Hannah Holland will be leading worship for us, and Rick, her husband, will lead the adult ministry for the day.

Both Rick & Hannah have a background in youth and children’s ministry, and we’re looking forward to having them with us on the 15th Feb.

So whether you’re planning to come alone, with your team or your family, we’re sure that you’re going to have a great day with us.

Rick and Hannah Holland

Rick and Hannah have been married for 16 years and have three children. They love God and people. Having both grown up in church, they know the difference that God makes and want to love people the way He loves them. This nudged them to reimagine church as they knew it and to begin to learn to love people without agenda. Alongside their day jobs, they set up ‘The Living Room’ which revolves around three words: refuge, hope, and purpose.

Rick and Hannah want to inspire others to allow these words to become part of their make up so that they not only encounter these things for themselves as a part of a community, but that they understand that they too can become people who provide refuge for others, instill hope and encourage others in their purpose, if they allow God to influence their everyday lives.

Youth worker breakfast and grant funding

Many of our friends from around the area also attend the youth worker breakfast, which is a partnership between Catalyst Youth Trust & Shropshire Hope. The funding for the youth worker breakfast has been channeled into the 2020 winter retreat so that we can offer a much more comprehensive day. This will include a hot lunch, youth provision, and a quality retreat programme a low cost.

Please find attached the audio recording (the quality is not great but really worth listening to) of Tim Alford speaking at our Youth event in March 2019. Tim focussed his talk on understanding and then reaching Generation Z, those born roughly between 1997 – 2012. His Powerpoint slides are also included:

Previous Key Note Speakers at the Breakfast:

It was an honour to partner again with The Catalyst Youth Trust in presenting the We love our Youth Worker Breakfast held on Saturday 9 March 2019. The speaker was Tim Alford. Tim lives in Malvern with his wife and two children where he is the National Director of Limitless (the youth ministry of the Elim Pentecostal Church), a Youth Ministry Specialist Lecturer at Regents Theological College, and a volunteer youth leader at The Source Church. Tim gave an incredible overview of the worldview and outlook of today’s teens, Generation Z. His talk will soon be available to listen to on this website.

Our supporters enable us to put this event on annually for free. These include the Anglican Bishops of Shrewsbury and Ludlow, and the Heart of England Baptist Assoication, as well as the Catalyst Youth Trust. We gratefully acknowledge their support, prayers and practical assistance.

2018 Youth Leaders’ Breakfast

We were delighted that Gavin & Anne Calver were our guests at the 2018 “We love our Youth Workers” Breakfast. It was a wonderful moring full of encouragement and blessing. Please continue to pray for local Christian Youth Leaders & Workers – may they be blessed, encouraged and inspired to continue to reach young people for Christ.

Gavin is Director of Missions at the Evangelical Alliance and previously headed up Youth for Christ in the UK. His wife Anne is an inspirational and engaging speaker. They spoke wonderfully together.

2017 Youth Leaders’ Breakfast
In 2017 our speaker was Matt Summerfield, CEO of Urban Saints and Lead Pastor at Hitchen Christian Centre. He is the founder of the livelife123.org – a new movement of people committed to intentional, accountable disciple-making relationships.
